Houseguest comfort by GuestWings

We made it through Mom's 90th birthday party last Thursday night in St. Pete. My brother Ken and my nephew Dave joined us from LA for 4 days of celebration. Ken took over the guest room in our house with the queen bed. Dave is 21 and somewhat over 6 feet tall. He was a good sport about sleeping on the air mattress the first night of the visit, but was ecstatic when I asked him if he would rather have one of the GuestWings for the duration of his visit. Somehow having a queen bed of his own made for much better sleeping.

We had the pleasure of discovering the lobby bar at the Vinoy for the first part of Mom's actual party. What a lovely area . . . there is seating on the porch, but we needed a bigger area and picked an area with couches below the porch area. The weather was spectacular, the service was attentive and the beverages were perfection. I wish we had stayed for dinner, although our celebration at Il Ritorno was fantastic. It would have been easier for the elderly members of our party to stay in one place. Lesson learned.

Dave and Ken are ideal guests. Dave loves to cook . . . he made some spectacular breakfasts. Ken  did a great job helping my mom with her computer and organizing her files and finishing up some of the details of her move to the Gulf Coast a few months ago. And I had the pleasure of being around my family . . .

Looking up from our seats at the Vinoy. It was beautiful to see the palms against the Vinoy facade.

In addition to my brother and nephew from LA, the party included my daughter and son-in-law (St. Pete), my aunt and uncle (Sarasota) and Michael and me! That's MOM -- the birthday girl -- at the head of the table.
